Gustav Update

We still need 4 more volunteers to serve breakfast on Thursday morning.  Please email me at rkidd@mafairumc.org or call my cell phone (612-1591) if you can serve.  We are to be at Colonial Heights United Methodist Church at 6:00 AM.

I saw Jim and Gail Hunt, and Tom Price on WCYB helping serve supper last night.  Red Cross classes were taught at our church this morning .  Caty and I took two Operational Training classes; Jeff Weatherall has offered medical services; Libby Dearing and Patricia Downs are volunteering to use their nursing training; Carolyn Kidd is providing computer services at the Red Cross office.  Thanks to Luke Bell for helping us get off to a fast start!

My guess is that this group of evacuees will be with us for another week.  Even though Gustav was not as destructive as first feared there are 3 other storms that are approaching the U.S. mainland.  According to Red Cross rules we cannot donate food or clothing.  Monetary gifts are still the best way to give.

If I have missed answering telephone calls please forgive me.  The use of the website is very efficient.
