Holston Conference Mission Trip to Sudan

In March, Holston Conference is sending an eleven-person team to Yei (pronounced "yea"), Sudan in Africa, and two of those team members are part of the Mafair family - Libby Dearing (as a team leader and nurse) and Patricia Downs (as a nurse).  The team will have two main purposes - ministerial support and training for local ministers and medical treatment for local people.  This area of the world has been racked by civil war for 23 years, and for the last 3-5 years has been about the job of rebuilding.  We are going as guests of a local United Methodist church and as part of an initiative and cooperative effort established by their bishop and ours.

We ask that you include us in your prayers - for safe travel, protection of our health while we are away, wisdom for initiating and establishing ministry opportunities, and the Lord's enabling to do what He has called us to do.  We are excited, overwhelmed and humbled to have the opportunity to serve in this capacity.

Because of weight limits and the need to focus our supplies on medical necessities and medications, we are unable to pack and transport gifts for the people.  However, if classes or individuals would like to make contributions to our effort, we are establishing a fund for the purposes of purchasing necessary equipment and supplies before we go and once we get there.  Checks can be made out to Mafair and labeled for "Sudan Hope."

If you have questions or would like for one of us to share with your class, please let us or the church office know.  We thank you for allowing us to represent Mafair in this awesome and exciting endeavor.
